Thomas Philip van Aken (Brielle, 27-03-1991) is an artist, illustrator. He uses different techniques, but everything is interconnected thanks to its personal handwriting.
Van Aken is inspired by the shapes of body and nature. His distinctive, organic forms are between life and still life.
He acts from intuition, and therefore remains very close to himself. This creates a very personal universe, and he offers the viewer the opportunity to examine the world through his eyes.
He plays with the boundaries of abstraction and recognition, and gives the viewer room for personal interpretation. So he gives the truth of the work in the hands of the beholder. The viewer can internalize the work, so it's not only close to van Aken himself, but also with his audience.
